lenabtaker
One night we were working on our pitch deck idea, the next we were flying across borders to represent our school at Lenabtaker, the largest entrepreneurship competition for youth in the Arab region. This memorable journey started as a notion suggested by Mr. Yousef, a teacher and past winner of this competition with prior experience to creatively engineer our ideas into physical exhibits.
After confirming our registration, our team actively participated in training camp sessions organized by Entrogate, the competition's host. Many sessions included homework where we researched customer profiles, data collection methods, and competitor evaluation. This was paired with a specialized training course with videos and assignments guiding us through this process. Here is where we learned what it means to be an entrepreneur, an artist fusing human empathy with execution.
With the assistance of Mr. Yousef to refine our pitch deck ideas to their fullest potential and support from teachers, parents and classmates in gathering votes, we were able to qualify for the final stages of the competition on the 1st of June to stitch the name Radhwa on the international stage.
We continued pouring in hours in the summer refining the base we made in the academic year. Next, we worked on the technical and presenting aspects of our work with two of the most qualified experts we had the privilege to work with, Mr Abdulrauf and Mr Abdulbaset. Their effort was more than expected granted the time period and deadlines we were given. To all teachers who helped, including those I could not name here, your valuable approaches to our project have made a world of difference to us setting an example for the future generations of Radhwa to come.
With the school’s hope on our shoulders, we proudly wore our uniform and rode to Hussein Technical University on September 6 with the absolute determination to compete for the spotlight with many other works from equally driven visionaries.
At the ceremony, we were able to take home a distinction award in teamwork. While I have to admit we aimed higher, looking back at this journey, we gained valuable experiences and lessons that were priceless for our growth as students.
Personally, I couldn’t have asked for better speakers than Ghassan and Elias who’ve proficiently commanded the center stage together since the early exhibition days in Grade 5. Additionally, having a like-minded student with a vast skillset like Krishna meant that he was able to input more ways than ever to streamline our work in more efficient ways I couldn’t have thought of alone. As for Mr. Yousef, I learned many practical skills in adaptability to connect with the variety of people where it will matter most in the years to come.
To any student reading this, the potential to bring your best ideas to the world will be defined by your drive and courage to keep going more than anything. Let your curiosity take you as far as your eyes can see. Your ideas deserve that chance.
